‘It’s Getting Real’ ‘Now We Are Talking’ Fans Excited As Chelsea Prepare Formal Bid For £80M Rated Striker

Chelsea are likely to make a formal “offer” for Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez “in the coming days”, according to Tyc Sports.

The Argentinian TV network claims that there are three clubs looking to sign the 24-year-old, with the Blues expected to be challenged by Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid for the player’s signature. Alvarez is highly regarded and supporters on X are enthusiastic about the possibility of the forward making the switch to Stamford Bridge:

As long as City are not asking for a ridiculous amount just pay them and bring him to Chelsea — Petizzy (@PetizzyX) June 7, 2024

How much would Alvarez cost?

Reports have suggested that the Argentinian international will cost at least £80m, which seems to be a rather reasonable price for a World Cup winner who is in his mid-20s. There are still some doubts about City’s willingness to sell Alvarez to a direct rival but Chelsea do have good relations with the club, having signed Raheem Sterling from them last summer.

Are Chelsea favourites to sign the player?

Chelsea can’t offer Alvarez Champions League football, unlike PSG and Atletico, so that may prove to be an obstacle in negotiations, but they can offer regular starting opportunities. TyC Sports says that location could also prove to be a factor. A move to London is unlikely to be an issue, but Paris would require him to learn a new language and settle into a new league.

Living in Madrid is reportedly the most attractive option but Atletico are expected to have issues matching City’s valuation.
