Chelsea legend John Terry slammed BBC for their caption on Cristiano Ronaldo in a highlights package of Portugal’s Round-of-16 tie with Slovenia at Euro 2024. It was the Portuguese who won Monday’s contest (July 1) 3-0 on penalties after a goalless draw in regular time.

Before this game headed into a shootout, Portugal captain Ronaldo was presented with an opportunity to put his side ahead from the spot in the 103rd minute. The Al-Nassr striker’s effort was saved by Slovenia goalkeeper Jan Oblak, leaving the contest without a goal. In a BBC highlights package in which this miss was played, the caption read:

“Misstiano Penaldo”

Former England defender Terry, who was seemingly watching this game at home, wasn’t too pleased about this. Reacting to this on his Instagram, the ex- Blues man wrote:

competitions, with Terry’s side ending up victorious on five occasions, while Ronaldo’s team won six times. With Portugal through to the quarter-final of Euro 2024, they will be pitted against France in the next stage. These two sides meet for this knockout clash on Friday (July 5).

When John Terry picked Cristiano Ronaldo over Lionel Messi in the GOAT debate.

Chelsea hero John Terry picked Cristiano Ronaldo over the latter’s arch-rival Lionel Messi in the everlasting GOAT debate while speaking earlier this year. At a PFA event in February, Terry said (via Pulse Sports):

“I’ m going to upset a couple of people here but I think I’m going to have to go with Ronaldo over Messi. When you’re talking about the best ever, him and Messi, he has to be on my team.” “A nd I think he’s been away and done it not only in the Premier League, done it in other countries and still achieved what he’s achieved is incredible.”

Ronaldo has won the Premier League title thrice with Manchester United. He’s also lifted the La Liga trophy on two occasions with Real Madrid while being crowned Serie A champion twice at Juventus . The 39-year-old has also won the UEFA Champions League five times, with four of those triumphs coming at the Santiago Bernabeu. His remaining win was with the Red Devils.
