Rodri shares what he has now noticed about Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella at Euro 2024

Spain are currently looking like one of the favourites to win Euro 2024 this summer. Chelsea transfer target Nico Williams has been leading the line with his pace and skill up top, however they have looked solid pretty much all across the pitch. Lead by former Blue Alvaro Morata, the likes of him and Rodri are looking really strong as they prepare to take on Germany this weekend.

However, there is one player who has suprised everyone with just how good he has been in the form of Marc Cucurella. The left-back enjoyed a very strong end to the season at Stamford Bridge, with his position changing to a more inverted full-back. He has carried this onto the international stage , with teammate Rodri saying that he has hit higher heights on the big stage, despite already knowing how good he was.

He said to Cope: “Cucurella. I already knew him but the level he is showing in a context like this in a Euro Cup… He is helping us a lot, especially defensively, the character he has.” The Spaniard will be hoping the quality he is showing will be enough for him to nail down a place in Enzo Maresca’s first game in charge of the club against Manchester City.

Reports have continued to claim that the Blues are interested in signing a new left-footed defender, with another star of Euro 2024 moving to the front of the queue.

It has been stated that they are interested in the signing of Riccardo Calafiori , who made his mark for Italy before he was dumped out of the tournament. However, at this stage Arsenal look more likely to complete that deal, leaving the Blues to contemplate whether they already have enough in that area.
