Chelsea and Arsenal learn Desire Doue transfer stance after £29m bid rejected

Chelsea and Arsenal have already been informed of Rennes’ stance on the future of Desire Doue amid recent transfer links. Reports in recent days have claimed that both the Gunners and the Blues are in the running to sign Doue this summer. Both clubs have had contrasting transfer windows so far but look set to have a busy couple of months ahead.

Chelsea have signed five players so far this summer with Marc Guiu, Tosin Adarabioyo, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Estevao Willian and Omari Kellyman completing moves to Stamford Bridge. Arsenal are yet to make any new signings so far during the current transfer window, but have been heavily linked with several potential new additions, with Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori and Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams credited as targets.

One player to be linked with both clubs is Doue. Le Parisien recently reported that Chelsea and Arsenal will face competition from Bayern Munich for the signing of the 19- year-old forward. It was also reported that Bayern had submitted an offer worth €35million (£29million) for Doue, which was rejected. Now Rennes sporting director Frederic Massara has outlined the club’s stance on Doue’s future which will be a blow to Arsenal and Chelsea.

“Today, Stade Rennais has the means to say no to any offer,” Massara is quoted telling Ouest France when asked about Doue potentially leaving the Ligue 1 club this summer. “If huge offers come up on the table, it requires consideration on a case-by-case basis. Today, there are no offers.

“Having the chance to have talents observed by the whole world and bringing hyperbolic offers, that’s really a chance. The player has no desire to leave, there are no negotiations at the moment.”
