Karim Adeyemi breaks silence on Dortmund future amid Chelsea links

Karim Adeyemi has addressed his Borussia Dortmund future amid reported interest from Liverpool and Chelsea. Adeyemi has scored 14 goals and provided eight assists in 66 competitive matches following his arrival from Red Bull Salzburg in the summer of 2022.

The attacker had to settle for 10 Bundesliga starts in 24 appearances last term, but he was a regular fixture in the latter stages of Dortmund’s run to the Champions League final. Adeyemi started both legs in the last-eight and the semi-final as well as featuring in the lineup for the 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid in the Wembley final.

Despite experiencing a mixed campaign, Adeyemi has ultimately done enough to attract interest from the Premier League and beyond.

Outside of the Premier League, Italian giants Juventus have reportedly identified the Dortmund man as a potential replacement for Federico Chiesa. Adeyemi, who has a contract until June 2027, has admitted he cannot offer any assurances about his Dortmund future despite being “happy” with his current situation.

When asked about his future, Adeyemi told Ruhr Nachrichten: “I can’t say anything about that. I’m wearing a Dortmund shirt, and I’m very happy to be wearing a Dortmund shirt. There are no guarantees in life.”

Sahin refuses to be drawn on Adeyemi future

Sahin has stepped up from his role as assistant manager following the departure of Edin Terzic at the end of last season. The Dortmund head coach has been unwilling to comment on the speculation surrounding Adeyemi’s future, but he is seemingly keen to retain the services of the 22-year-old attacker.

“Karim knows what I think about him,” Sahin said. “I’m not going to start commenting on every rumour. I’m not playing along. “What’s important to me is what I want from Karim. And what Karim told me is important to me. Everything else is not my concern.”

Sahin currently has Adeyemi, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, Julien Duranville, Donyell Malen and Giovanni Reyna as his main wide options. However, there is some uncertainty about whether Malen and Reyna could depart the German club this summer, especially as the latter spent the second half of last season on loan at Nottingham Forest.
