Chelsea make surprise £41m transfer decision as striker ‘agreement’ finally reached

Chelsea look to be focused on sealing exits, having already confirmed six new summer signings. Enzo Maresca is preparing to take his squad overseas in the coming days for a pre-season tour, though several senior players face uncertain futures.

Romelu Lukaku, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Armando Broja and David Datro Fofana are some of the returning loanees likely to depart. Trevoh Chalobah, Conor Gallagher and now Dorde Petrovic are just a few others that could be sold with the Blues hoping to raise significant funds.

Though permanent exits are preferred, several young stars are primed for loan moves, with Chelsea continuing to implement their strategy of acquiring wonderkids. The latest update on that front involves Lesley Ugochukwu and Andrey Santos, with a major update on Romelu Lukaku also coming to light.

Ugochukwu and Santos loans

Lesley Ugochukwu is expected to join Andrey Santos in sealing a loan move away from Chelsea for the upcoming season. According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Blues are planning for the France international to seal a temporary move as they want him to play on a regular basis. Santos, meanwhile, will be returning to the Blues’ sister-club Strasbourg in France after the USA pre-season tour.

Lukaku agreement

Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea finally look set to part ways permanently , with Napoli having been in talks to sign him. And now, according to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, the two parties have reached an agreement on personal terms. There is still plenty of work to be done in order to agree a summer deal with the Blues demanding €40million (£33.7m) for his departure, a price Napoli cannot currently afford.
