Chalobah has spoken for the first time since being cut from the squad.

Trevoh Chalobah has broken his silence after being brutally axed from Chelsea’s pre-season tour squad. Chalobah is one of the few Chelsea academy graduates to have become a first team regular, making 80 appearances since 2021. Yet despite nailing down a place in the starting XI towards the end of last season, new Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca sees no place for the centre-back in his future plans.

Chalobah took part in Maresca’s training sessions earlier this month, but this week he was told to stay at home while the rest of the squad flew to the United States for a pre-season tour. Fans were not happy. According to The Athletic, the 25-year-old is behind Wesley Fofana, Axel Disasi and new signing Tosin Adarabioyo in the pecking order to start at right-sided centre-back.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Chelsea are willing to sanction the sale of Chalobah, who over the last 18 months turned down several opportunities to leave. Both Nottingham Forest and Tottenham attempted to sign the defender last summer but he wanted to stay at Stamford Bridge.

Following the surprise snub, Chalobah took to Instagram to share a cryptic message in the form of a prayer. “A prayer for the new week: Dear God, thank you for opening my eyes to see another week. I’m so grateful for another precious moment that you’ve given me,” Chalobah wrote on his Instagram story.

“As I step into his new week, give me strength when I feel tired, perseverance when I feel discouraged and comfort when I lose hope. Help me to focus on you and not on any problems that I face. “When my back is against the wall, I will lift my head and remember that you’ve never lost a battle. Thank you for hearing my prayer. In Jesus’ name, Amen. “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you. – Numbers 6:24 – 25.”

Chalobah is under contract until June 2028, meaning Chelsea should be able to command a decent fee if he takes the hint that he is surplus to requirements.
