‘How Did We Go From Alvarez To This?’ ‘Chelsea Is Not Serious’ Fans React As Club Target £65M Sesko Alternative

Chelsea may consider making a bid for Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke, according to The Telegraph . Benjamin Sesko’s decision to stay at RB Leipzig means the Blues are having to pivot to other targets . Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran is one such option but Solanke could also be looked at, with the former Blues academy player having a £65m release clause in his contract.

Fans on X, though, are less than enthusiastic about the forward making a move back to Stamford Bridge:

Solanke did have a good season for Bournemouth The 26-year-old scored 21 goals in 42 appearances for the Cherries last campaign, which is an impressive return for a mid-table team.

Solanke made a massive step up after hitting the back of the net just 7 times in the 2022/23 season. Some supporters will be rightly concerned, though, that he may be a one-season wonder. Chelsea don’t appear to have the funds to go after the biggest names The likes of Victor Osimhen, Julian Alvarez and Viktor Gyokeres have all been linked with moves to Stamford Bridge over the past few months but, based on the most recent speculation, it seems like they have been priced out of those transfers.

Alvarez is likely to be the cheapest of three at £80m with Osimhen expected to fetch as much as £110m. With limited resources, the Blues have been forced into contemplating deals for Solanke and Duran instead.
