‘If City Are In, We’re Finished’ ‘Best Pay The £60M Now’ Chelsea Fans Worried After David Ornstein Makes Transfer Claim

Manchester City and Manchester United could still enter the race for Chelsea transfer target Michael Olise, according to The Athletic reporter David Ornstein . The reliable journalist has confirmed that the Blues, Newcastle and Bayern Munich have contacted Crystal Palace but more teams could soon register their interest in the Frenchman.

Many fans on X are concerned that Olise could snub a move to Stamford Bridge, although some still feel the club are favourites if they can get a deal done quickly:

I don’t see us getting him especially with no CL football, people thought we could always get away with signing top players without it well now we’re about to find out. We have to get back to qualifying for CL football — Rizzobillz (@rizzobillz) June 13, 2024

Chelsea have an extra hurdle to navigate While Olise doe have a release clause worth £60m in his contract, it is believed that it can only be triggered by Champions League clubs. It means Enzo Maresca’s side may have to pay over that amount in order to agree a fee with Palace.

Reaching an agreement on personal terms with Olise won’t be an issue One advantage that the Blues may have over their rivals, though, is that they have been in close contact with the winger’s representatives since last summer. It means agreeing a salary (and other payments) should be pretty straightforward.

Of course, it doesn’t mean a move will happen. The likes of City could still turn Olise’s head, especially as he is reportedly keen on playing in the Champions League. The player could have a big decision to make.
