Newcastle Consider Joining Liverpool And Chelsea In Raid On Championship Club For £30M Rated Winger
Newcastle have discussed making a move for Leeds winger Crysencio Summerville, according to The Athletic . The Magpies are considering reinforcing their options on the right-hand side of attack and the Dutchman has been identified as a potential option. Summerville has had an excellent year for Leeds, having been named the Championship Player of the Season for his performances.
The 22-year-old scored 22 goals and contributed 10 assists in 49 appearances, so it is no surprise that he has caught the eye of Newcastle’s recruitment team. Summerville is a player in demand Multiple reports over the past couple of weeks have linked the forward with transfers to Liverpool and Chelsea, so competition for his signature is expected to be fierce.
Leeds do need to balance the books, though, having failed to gain promotion via the playoffs, so they are believed to be willing to sell if a club is prepared to pay around £30m. That price may prove attractive to the Magpies, considering they need to cut their cloth accordingly to ensure they stay within the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules.
Newcastle are considering 3 alternatives The Athletic report that West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen, Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams and Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise are also being targeted by Eddie Howe’s side.
However, none of these players are expected to be available on the cheap. Bowen is set to cost in excess of £70m, while Olise is thought to have a £60m release clause in his contract.
Williams is the cheapest of the three with his buyout fee said to be €50m (£43m), but the Spanish international would still cost considerably more than Summerville and his wage demands are reportedly excessive. It should be noted that Summerville may not be the ideal candidate either. For Leeds, he played mostly on the left wing; which is not the side that Newcastle need to strengthen.
