What Cole Palmer did in 10 minutes at Euro 2024 that Jude Bellingham hasn’t managed all tournament

England booked their place in the final of Euro 2024 last night, and they have a certain Chelsea man to give a lot of credit too. Cole Palmer came off the bench for the Three Lions to thread through Ollie Watkins, whose sensational strike saw them book a date with Marc Cucurella’s Spain on Sunday.

The Chelsea man has been forced to wait patiently for his place in the side this summer. Despite pundits calling for it, he is yet to start a game for his nation at the competition. However, he has certainly had an impact off the bench. His brilliant penalty sent England on their way to victory in the previous round of the competition. Against the Netherlands in the semi-final, his assist for the Aston Villa man brought up a stat that will resonate quite well with Chelsea supporters.

Palmer more assists than Jude Bellingham at Euro 2024

According to Statman Dave , despite the fact he only played 10 minutes of the game, his assist saw him climb above the tally set so far of both Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden so far in the competition. The latter is a player many have called for Palmer to start ahead of, however it feels as if a decision this big has been left too late in the tournament to be made at this stage.

It looks as if the 22-year-old, as well as fellow Blue Conor Gallagher , are going to be starting on the bench when the final comes around on Sunday. However, they have certainly shown in their time on the pitch that they have a massive role to play in the game, and could well be key to England’s chances of lifting their first major trophy since 1966.
